About the job:

Opella Digital is establishing a Global Project Management Practice within Strategy & Transformation to drive delivery predictability, cost efficiency, and methodology consistency across our entire Digital portfolio. This includes Butterfly, the digital transformation program, and the full spectrum of Digital BAU projects.

The Methodology & PM Coordination Lead is a pivotal role in this new organization. You will own our project methodology end-to-end, ensure its adoption across all Digital projects, and act as the operational backbone for PM sourcing, assignment, and onboarding. You will work with every type of PM in the organization — from System Integrator-provided project managers, to externally sourced PMs via our Preferred Vendor List, to internalized regional PMs in the regions.

This is not a back-office role. You will coach delivery teams on real projects, intervene when methodology adherence breaks down, and directly coordinate the assignment of external PMs to ensure the right person is on the right project at the right cost.

This role combines methodology ownership with PM coordination because these are connected workflows — onboarding, training, and assignment form a single pipeline.

Why This Role Matters

This is a foundational role. You will shape how Opella Digital delivers projects by ensuring every project manager in the organization (internal, external, or SI-provided) operates with the same standards, the same tools, and the same level of preparation. You will be the person who makes the difference between a methodology that exists on paper and one that actually drives delivery quality.

Main Responsibilities

1. SIMPLE Methodology Ownership

  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve our project management methodology as the single standard for all Digital projects at Opella
  • Define and enforce governance standards scaled by project criticality, ensuring proportional oversight without creating bottlenecks
  • Maintain all project management templates and deliverables in the methodology
  • Ensure our methodology practices are embedded in tooling (Planisware, Confluence, Jira) and aligned with the Portfolio Lifecycle process and the operations
  • Drive the methodology adoption from the current ~20% to a target of 80%+ by end of Q4 2026

2. Training, Coaching & PM Onboarding

  • Design and deliver our project management methodology training programs for all PM populations: internal PMs, externally sourced PMs and System Integrator PMs
  • Onboard every newly assigned PM before project activation — no PM starts on a project without our project management methodology training and a completed Project Readiness Checklist
  • Provide hands-on coaching on live projects, with particular focus on at-risk initiatives requiring early intervention
  • Train System Integrator PMs on our project management methodology so they can in turn train other SI resources — building a multiplier effect
  • Coach internal regional PMs on methodology best practices
  • Develop self-service training materials (guides, video walkthroughs, templates) to scale enablement beyond 1:1 coaching

3. Methodology Compliance Audit & Enforcement

  • Conduct regular audits of project adherence to our project management methodology: project plans exist, gate reviews are completed, documentation is maintained, risks are tracked
  • Escalate non-compliance with recommended corrective actions
  • Produce periodic compliance dashboards showing adoption rates, common gaps, and improvement trends across Digital streams
  • Work with Stream Leads to address systemic methodology gaps (e.g., projects running without project plans, missing post-implementation reviews)

4. PM Assignment Coordination & EWF Sourcing

  • Maintain a live PM assignment map across the entire Digital portfolio: which PM is assigned to which project, at what seniority level, internal vs. external, current utilization
  • Coordinate the end-to-end process for sourcing external PMs through the External Workforce (EWF) Preferred Vendor List: receive project managers requests as part of the demand process, categorize the project and source the right PM with the right seniority from the EWF catalog, track candidate delivery within SLA, and support Requestors through interview and selection
  • Manage the PM onboarding pipeline: from assignment decision through our project management methodology training to project activation
  • Track external PM performance and flag recurring quality issues with specific suppliers to procurement for Preferred Vendor List reviews

Key Interfaces

  • Project Management Lead — direct manager; aligns on PM assignment decisions, methodology priorities, and escalations
  • Stream / Delivery Leads — primary stakeholders for PM assignment requests and methodology adoption
  • Procurement — coordinate on external PM rate card compliance, and sourcing SLAs
  • Regional Digital Heads— train and coach their regional PMs on our project management methodology; no reporting line but strong dotted-line relationship
  • System Integrator PM leads — train their trainers on our project management methodology, monitor adherence

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a PMO analyst — you do not produce portfolio-level reports or manage governance ceremonies; that remains with the PMO
  • Not a line manager of internal PMs — they report to their Digital Heads; you provide methodology support and coaching

About you

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in project or program management within Digital/IT transformation environments
  • Proven track record defining, implementing, or improving a methodology at scale across a global organization
  • Hands-on experience coaching and training project managers of varying seniority, including external/vendor PMs
  • Strong understanding of project governance frameworks, gate-based delivery models, and agile-waterfall or hybrid approaches
  • Experience with PM tooling: Jira, Confluence (or equivalent enterprise PPM tools)
  • Experience working with external staffing suppliers and managing sourcing processes for PM profiles
  • Excellent stakeholder management — ability to influence without authority across Stream Leads, regional and SI PMs, and procurement
  • Any additional European language (French, Spanish) is a plus

Preferred

  • Experience in the healthcare, FMCH, or pharmaceutical industry
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or SAFe certification
  • Experience with System Integrator governance in large transformation programs
