Position Purpose:

This is a full-time Field Technician position with Veolia, a leading energy management and consulting firm based in New York City. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning electrical and mechanical metering equipment across a variety of commercial, residential, and industrial facilities, including:
    • Commercial Real Estate (office buildings and mixed-use facilities)
    • Residential Real Estate (mixed use)
    • Retail Real Estate
    • Government and State Facilities
    • Federal Facilities
  • Core Duties Include:
    • Interpreting technical drawings, commissioning procedures, and applicable safety regulations
    • Performing physical testing of electrical and mechanical equipment using specialized instrumentation
    • Preparing detailed commissioning and start-up reports tailored to specific facilities
    • Submitting progress reports and maintaining accurate project documentation
    • Responding to customer inquiries with professionalism and urgency
    • Collaborating effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams
    • Supporting field installations, troubleshooting, and system verification activities

Work Environment:

  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
  • Fully in-office/field-based position (non-hybrid).

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Option A
    • Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline
    • 1–3 years of professional experience in:
      • Electrical or mechanical controls/troubleshooting
      • HVAC systems
      • Fire alarm systems
      • Basic networking
      • Related technical fields
  • Option B
    • 3–5 years of professional experience as a:
      • Service Technician
      • Controls Installer
      • Commissioning Agent
      • Construction Manager
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Building controls
    • Test and balance procedures
    • Building systems maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Previous metering installation and commissioning experience
  • Familiarity with energy management and efficiency best practices

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with the following equipment and systems:
    • Electrical:
      • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
      • Low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment
      • Automatic transfer switches (ATS)
      • Power distribution units (PDUs)
      • Commercial electrical building infrastructure
    • Mechanical:
      • Electric, absorption, and steam-driven chillers
      • Steam and hot water boilers
      • Pumps and pump systems
      • Air handling units (AHUs)
      • Computer room air handlers (CRAHs)
      • Cooling towers
    • Building Systems & Controls:
      • Building Management Systems (BMS)
      • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
      • Pulse, Modbus, and Ethernet-based systems
    • The ideal candidate will be:

Additional Information

Pay Range: $28.85 to $33.65 per hour.
