We are New Zealand’s fourth largest electricity network company managing five electricity networks across the diverse and spectacular lower South Island. About the role:

We have a permanent part time opportunity (48 hours per fortnight) to join the PowerNet team as a Metering Administrator. Reporting to the Metering Manager you'll provide administration and coordination support across metering activities, working closely with field teams, customers, contractors, retailers, and industry partners.

No two days are the same, and you'll be at the heart of ensuring information flows accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating metering and site visit work for technicians and contractors.
  • Processing meter reports and maintaining database records.
  • Supporting quality assurance and documentation requirements.
  • Assisting customers, electricians, inspectors, retailers, and industry stakeholders with metering enquiries.
  • Processing invoices, purchase orders, and job completion reporting.
  • Providing support to the wider administration team as required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, quality, and health and safety initiatives.

What you will need to be successful:

We're keen to hear from people who are customer-focused, organised, and thrive in a busy environment. You'll bring:

  • Proven administration and/or customer service experience (ideally 2+ years).
  • Adaptable communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to excellence though attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to confidently prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.
  • Confidence working with databases and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A collaborative approach, positivity and a willingness to help others succeed.

Experience in utilities, networks, electrical services, or metering would be advantageous, but not essential.

PowerNet Limited manages electricity networks on behalf of its respective owners Electricity Invercargill Limited and The Power Company Limited who each hold a 50% shareholding in the company.

Electricity Invercargill Limited (EIL) is owned by the ratepayers of the Invercargill City Council (ICC) and The Power Company Limited (TPC) is owned by the Southland Electric Power Supply Consumer Trust (SEPSCT) which represents consumers connected to their network.

PowerNet also manages the assets of the OtagoNet Joint Venture (OJV) which is jointly owned by PowerNet’s two shareholders Electricity Invercargill and The Power Company as well as a small embedded network at Frankton, known as Lakeland Network, near Queenstown that is owned by Electricity Southland (ESL).
