About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [MP]

Responsibilities include:

  • Performs duties required to install, remove, replace, inspect, test, maintain, and repair both simple and more complex types of company and customer-owned electrical and electronic meters, instruments, and related equipment and circuits; instructs and effectively directs other employees in the performance of any duties for which qualified; performs all the work of the lower classification; and performs other work as assigned.
  • Actively participate in and promote the Mon Power Safety Philosophy, work safely to advance the Mon Power Safety Vision, follow safe work practices.
  • Make adjustments and repairs to meters, instruments, and related equipment and circuits.
  • Make regular inspections to check the condition and operation of installed equipment and performs necessary maintenance work.
  • Make standard operating tests and checks on new equipment to insure proper installation and operation in accordance with established standards and specifications.
  • Make tests on installed equipment using portable test equipment.
  • Analyze test results and make necessary recommendations.
  • Make investigations to determine reasons for major variations in customers' monthly energy use and demands.
  • Calibrate or check the calibration of meters and instruments.
  • Check layout and recommend proper meter and service layout for industrial connections.
  • Prepare internal and external wiring diagrams of metering and control installations for reference and record purposes.
  • Attend all required regulatory training.
  • Understand the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations, and the practical application in the workplace.
  • Provide excellent customer service to our electrical customers.
  • Assist during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations as well as FirstEnergy office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
  • Must meet the physical requirements and have the ability to work safely from heights, working from ladders and/or from aerial baskets/buckets.
  • Must have vision corrected to 20-30 and be able to properly distinguish colors.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
  • Must hold a Technical Associate Degree (electrical or electronics preferred) or 5 Years of directly related experience.
  • Must successfully pass the EEI TECH test.
  • Successful candidate must be willing to live within 40 minutes of the Service Center.
