We are looking for a Metallurgist / Senior Metallurgist to join our MINPS Process Development team in the Minerals business area. In this role, you will contribute to the development of mineral processing technologies, customer test work, research and development activities, and innovation projects, helping transform experimental results into valuable process knowledge and practical solutions for customers.

You will report to the Director, Minerals Processing, and the role location is Pori, Finland, with a hybrid working model available.

Team you will belong to

You will join the MINPS Process Development team at the Metso Research Center in Pori. The team focuses on process technology development, customer test work, research and development, and innovation projects within Minerals Processing. The team plays an important role in developing and validating mineral processing flowsheets from laboratory-scale testing through piloting and industrial application while supporting the advancement of Metso technologies.

The team works closely with laboratory technicians, metallurgists, and technical experts across Metso, with an increasing focus on digitalization, data-driven test work, automation, and new approaches to generating process knowledge from experimental data.

What you'll do

• Plan and execute beneficiation test work together with laboratory technicians, including data analysis, interpretation, and technical reporting.
• Develop and optimize mineral processing flowsheets for customer projects across a variety of commodities and applications.
• Produce instructions and procedures for laboratory testing and pilot campaigns.
• Apply and further develop mineral processing laboratory methods, from sample preparation and characterization to concentration technologies.
• Utilize process simulation and data analysis tools, including mass balance calculations and HSC simulation.
• Participate in pilot campaigns, site activities, and commissioning work as required.
• Contribute to research and development, technology development, continuous improvement initiatives, and the advancement of data-driven ways of working.
• Take responsibility for customer test work projects, coordinating technical activities while managing project scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables.
• Work directly with Metso customers throughout projects, from understanding their technical challenges and defining test programs to presenting results, discussing findings, and recommending next steps.

What you'll bring

• Master’s degree in Minerals Processing, Mineral Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of mineral beneficiation technologies and their practical application.
• Experience in mineral processing test work, process development, research and development, plant operations, engineering, or a related technical environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret experimental data, challenge assumptions, and translate findings into practical process recommendations.
• Ability to communicate technical results clearly and produce high-quality technical and scientific documentation.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills when working with customers, laboratory personnel, and technical specialists.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
