PURPOSE OF THE JOB:To monitor and analyze metallurgical data with the aim of optimizing plant processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
- Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering Degree or NQF 7 equivalent is essential.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working as a metallurgist post obtaining the qualification is essential.
- Work experience in a PGMs concentrator plant environment will be an added advantage.
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential
- Valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such certificate
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate is responsible for:
- Oversees, monitors and analyses plant metallurgical processes.
- Develops means to optimize plant metallurgical processes.
- Conducts sampling surveys to collect plant data.
- Research new and innovative processes with the objective of refining processes in use.
- Ensures production targets are met according to plan.
- Investigates and implements systems to improve efficiencies.
- Conducts troubleshooting exercises to improve plant recoveries and grades.
- Monitors and ensures process equipment perform optimally and efficiently.
- Ensures maximum plant availability.
- Implements the necessary change management programmes.
- Assists with the management of capital projects within budget.
- Plans initiatives and monitors maintenance and plant upgrading.
- Performs statistical analyses and report on plant efficiencies.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
