Location: Critical Minerals Development Lab | Canning Vale

Contract Duration: 6-month Fixed Term Contract

Roster: 5:2 (Mon-Fri) with occasional weekend coverage

Reports to: Project Metallurgist

Your Opportunity

IGO is seeking two Metallurgical Technicians to join our Critical Minerals Development Lab and conduct metallurgical testwork programs ensuring accurate sample preparation, performing chemical and physical tests, and maintaining data integrity. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of critical minerals that support the global transition to clean energy. These positions are based in Canning Vale and will be offered as a 6-month fixed term contract.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare samples, including crushing, sieving, and sizing;
  • Conduct metallurgical testwork to assess ore characteristics and performance;
  • Set up and maintain laboratory and monitoring equipment;
  • Collect and analyse liquid and solid samples, including pH and concentration measurements;
  • Monitor test progress and adjust inputs to maintain target conditions;
  • Accurately record and manage data in the laboratory system;
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace, adhering to chemical storage and safety protocols; and
  • Contribute to health and safety initiatives and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

You will have a curious nature, enjoy following protocols and have strong attention to detail. This role will see you working in a team as well as on your own. We are ideally seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Hands-on experience in laboratory testing, preferably in metallurgical or mineral processing environments;
  • Diploma or Certificate in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or related field (desirable);
  • Experience with hydrometallurgical processes will be an advantage;
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures;
  • Strong computer literacy for data entry and analysis;
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills;
  • Flexibility to cover weekends and change rosters as needed;
  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 2 months)
