Job Description

Opportunity

This position is responsible for conducting metallographic analysis, managing outside testing for production, assisting with engineering projects, and providing engineering support for critical departments such as quality, production planning, and operations.

Specific Accountabilities for the Role:

  1. Metallographic sample preparation that includes sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching
  2. Time studies of production department processes
  3. Project research and equipment sourcing
  4. Initiate, track, and pursue the completion of outside testing
  5. Support the creation of material certifications
  6. Develop an understanding of materials and system specifications
  7. Write controlled documents such as SOPs, JSAs, and FORMS
  8. Properly utilize all required PPE
  9. Attend industry, metallographic, safety, and quality training

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, AAS or 2 years of college course work, specifically in Engineering, Focus in Materials Science or Metallurgy, Metallurgical Laboratory Experience, Engineering Project Experience.

Areas of Knowledge: Industrial Safety; Environmental Waste Management; Statistical Data Analysis; Micro/Macro Analysis; Calibration; Specimen Preparation;

Global Accountabilities for the Role:

Safety: Cooperate with all safety, environmental, and health procedures. Participate in and contribute to plant safety culture.

Quality: Prioritize quality work through metallography, outside testing management, and other engineering contributions.

Productivity: Manage time efficiently to accomplish set expectations and goals.

Cost: Steward the resources available to minimize waste and maximize added value to the company. This strategy applies to capital projects, testing costs, and metallographic processes.
