ABOUT THE ROLE

The Metal Shop Fabricator is responsible for producing metal components used in welded assemblies and supporting production teams across the plant. This role ensures materials are fabricated accurately and efficiently based on engineering specifications. The position is essential to maintaining workflow, inventory, and overall production support.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Operate fabrication equipment including shears, benders, band saws, and torches
  • Use forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials safely
  • Fabricate components based on drawings and steel orders from engineering
  • Assist with inventory management of production and field service components
  • Unload and organize incoming steel deliveries into storage areas
  • Read and interpret production orders and material requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Support special projects and additional duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reliability in daily tasks

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in metal fabrication or a related manufacturing environment. They are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of interpreting production orders to produce accurate components. This individual is dependable, works well in a team, and takes initiative to support overall shop productivity.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic math skills and ability to read steel production orders
  • Knowledge of safety standards and safe work practices
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes
  • Knowledge of materials and fabrication processes
  • Valid driver’s license required

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather , and outdoors (Depending on location)
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
