Job Description

The Metal Roll Former Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining roll forming equipment used to manufacture metal components and profiles. This position ensures products meet quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements while minimizing scrap and downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up roll forming machines according to production schedules and work orders.
  • Adjust machine settings, tooling, guides, and rollers to achieve proper product dimensions and quality.
  • Monitor production runs and inspect parts for compliance with specifications.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality checks using measuring tools.
  • Identify and correct production issues such as material tracking, dimensional variations, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Complete production records, quality documentation, and downtime reports.
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and coil handling equipment as required.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication on roll forming equipment.
  • Change tooling and assist with machine changeovers to support production requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and comply with all safety procedures.
  • Work closely with maintenance, quality, and engineering personnel to improve productivity and product quality.

Requirements

Required

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and measuring.
  • Experience using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years of roll forming, metal fabrication, or manufacturing experience.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience with steel coil processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and production issues.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
