Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Sourcing & Procurement team, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a Metal Manager, Auto Recycling! This role is responsible for providing strategic business and market insight as they relate automotive scrap procurement and processing including crafting new and leading existing closed loop agreements with our suppliers. The position will also develop comprehensive knowledge of the competitive automotive aluminum market to understand and exploit scrap opportunities. To position Novelis as a global leader in the market by remaining connected to the voice of the customer, being engaged with industry associations as well as Novelis within the external marketplace!

Responsibilities

  • Work to gain a strategic understanding of emerging trends in automotive scrap processing equipment and alloy segregation technologies, identifying those with commercial viability to the industry and Novelis
  • Lead the development of the Auto Fact Base, understanding the market flows and capabilities of processors, scrap tollers, other industry service providers and competitors is a key to gain competitive edge in the marketplace and improve performance and profitability throughout the organization
  • Guide automotive CLR and scrap procurement opportunities and identify optimal remelt and recycling opportunities
  • Understand the remelt and recycling capabilities of other FRPs to discover vulnerabilities that provide market opportunities for Novelis
  • Support key Corporate, Regional and Plant based initiatives as they relate to the growth of Auto Sheet
  • Find opportunities within the automotive value stream to reduce prime usage by crafting cross functional relationships with remelt and recycling operations and using market knowledge to secure low-cost prime replacements
  • Development and implement key reporting, analysis, tools and metrics for greater business relationships of scrap benefits, opportunities and risks
  • Develop and standardize the form of the return scrap and quality specifications
  • Direct a team of Supply Chain, Operations, Scrap Tolling, Logistics and Finance to optimize and improve closed loop programs by creating targeted program metrics. Lead a team passionate about identifying and implementing process changes to optimize existing programs and launch new ones
  • Attract and develop new personnel into the NNA Recycling Team; provide growth and development opportunities for currant staff members
  • Collaborate with Auto Value Stream, Supply Chain and Commercial personnel to price and secure scrap and meet quality requirements for the ingot demand signal in support of growing NNA and auto sales and closed loop recycling
  • Support long-term strategic efforts to fill growth/expansion projects with efficient levels of automotive scrap (CLR) and improve metal benefit
  • Lead and guide in setting of regional contracts for 3rd party purchases of auto scrap
  • Collaborating with the Commercial teams to ensure that scrap is secured as part of the contracting process to ensure product sustainability
  • Ensure the procurement strategy and movement of scrap and third-party scrap within the marketplace and throughout the company is managed and aligned with corporate strategies, commercial agreements, enterprise goals and objectives

Minimum qualifications

  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time
  • BS in business, engineering, finance, or related subject area
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Experience in leading and inspiring change
  • Metal industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a history of influencing outcomes
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Proven leadership skills, critical thinking and team building experience
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage stressful situations

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Scrap procurement or metal supply chain experience
  • Automotive OEM experience
