The opportunity:
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Metal fabrication process and quality assurance specialist for their Power Transformer business unit at India. As an expert, you work with fabricators to develop them to make sure we get right quality from them. The role will involve visiting the suppliers, monitoring the performance, and initiating performance improvement activities. You will also support the investigation and RCAs with deeper analysis of process records, in case of NCRs, failures, or quality issues. You will be collaborating with GPG process experts, local technical experts, production, and quality teams to ensure reducing Test Failures & COPQ, improving the overall Q&O performance and customer satisfaction.
You will be reporting to PT Factory Quality manager.
How you’ll make an impact:
Supplier Assessment (On-site process audits): Plan and conduct the required supplier on-site audits including assessment reporting, corrective action plan alignment with the suppliers.
Verify the effective closure of corrective action plan items by the supplier side. Support suppliers to fully comply with the process parameters. Enhance check points and control mechanism as necessary to avoid any deviation.
Parts Qualification: Lead the production part approval process for the new supplier parts/materials including the coordination of trial parts and first article inspection activities with the factory quality.
Actively participate in the process of FMEAs, defining the control plans and support their execution.
Supplier Issue Resolution, Non-Conformance, and Claim Management: Lead the non-conformity resolution process with the suppliers in case of the escalated technical issues from the factories and ensure the effective root-cause analysis and the countermeasure implementation by the suppliers.
Supplier Performance Monitoring: Monitor and consolidate the supplier delivery and quality KPI’s, the critical non-conformities escalated from the factories.
Identify the top concern suppliers within the region or specific category. Conduct Supplier Performance Evaluations (SPE) for the identified suppliers by the category management.
Supplier Performance Improvement: Lead the supplier performance improvement actions for the targeted suppliers to meet the customer and the Hitachi Energy factories’ expectations (following DMAIC and/or 8D methodology).
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:
Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, plate steel, pressed steel, sheet metal working, cold forming, welding processes and procedures, automated assembly processes, automated welding processes, application of poke yoke for assembly work.
Knowledge of heat treatment processes and surface protection processes such as hot dip galvanized, paint processes, KTL processes, etc.
Good understanding of ISO 3834, EN 1090, etc., management system and welding and painting certification requirements (International Welding Engineer, corrosion protection inspection is a strong advantage).
Experience working with Process Improvement and/or Continuous Improvement practices (e.g. Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis, etc…).
Proven experience with the process audits, APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control and inspection test plan creation.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to create a collaborative environment for accomplishing project objectives.
Familiarity with ISO-9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001 standards and external auditor certification is a plus.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
