Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated Junior Dresser / Grinder to join our production team on the day shift.

This role is responsible for preparing and finishing sheet metal parts by grinding, sanding, and removing surface imperfections before paint or final finishing. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience in metal fabrication, cosmetic grinding, or similar hands-on finishing work and is comfortable using power and pneumatic tools for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dress and finish metal parts by removing surface imperfections.
  • Grind and sand parts to the finish class required by customer specifications.
  • Use pneumatic tools, angle grinders, sanders, and drills to prepare parts for cosmetic paint finishes.
  • Set up and operate dressing and grinding equipment safely and correctly.
  • Identify equipment or process issues and either correct or report them.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing parts carefully to prevent damage or injury.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finishing quality and efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in metal fabrication, cosmetic grinding, or similar finishing work.
  • Experience using power tools such as angle grinders, sanders, drills, and pneumatic tools.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and use hand tools for extended periods.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Attributes

  • Previous experience with body work or cosmetic metal finishing.
  • Experience preparing sheet metal parts for paint or other cosmetic finishes.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal products and finishing standards.

Schedule & Pay Details

  • Shift: Day shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM)
  • Location: Port Coquitlam, BC
  • Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Work Location: In person
