Job Description

As the Merchandising Manager for Australia and New Zealand, you will be accountable for developing and executing a comprehensive merchandising strategy for the market, with a "Retail First" mentality and a client-centric approach. In strong partnership with the retail teams and cross-functional stakeholders in the support office, you will drive commercial objectives through results-driven actions derived from floor, category, and store analysis.

This role is responsible for leading the merchandising and visual merchandising team by combining hands-on management of our product assortment and display strategies. The position plays a critical role in supporting the overall merchandising strategy, enhancing team performance, and ensuring alignment with Tiffany & Co.'s brand values and business objectives.

You will build relationships with retail leadership, gather and synthesise consumer insights, and act as an advocate for larger store needs.

This position is open to candidates at both the Manager and Director level.

Key Accountabilities

Merchandising

  • Developing and executing local merchandising strategies aligned with global directives.
  • Conduct ongoing sales analysis by category and collection to drive business and identify new and innovative business opportunities, combining sales analysis, retail feedback, and competitive market research.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Visual Merchandising, Communications, Client Relations and High Jewelry, and Finance, to implement 360-initiatives that drive company goals.
  • Curate optimal assortments for stores and events, ensuring product offerings reflect the company's luxury positioning and strategic objectives.
  • Review assortments for all new stores or relocations, considering sales targets, competitors, and specificities.
  • Identify client needs through close collaboration with store leaders and secure requested pieces via global coordination.

  • Formulate and coordinate product launching plans and follow-up strategies across all categories.
  • Develop knowledge of the market, gathering and providing marketing information and commentary to the Zone on sales, products, prices, consumer behaviour and needs, trends, and competition.
  • Conduct regular competition visits and report on significant market activities across Oceania to the Zone team.

Business Planning & Support

  • Provide SKU-level sales forecasts for new products based on historical data, trend analysis, and market insights.
  • Collaborate with zone merchandising team to implement strategic and effective product assortments by store for Retail and eCommerce channels.
  • Monitor and analyze sales data across categories and channels to identify business opportunities and potential risks, including weekly and monthly reporting on targets, sell-through, and best sellers.
  • Prepare and present business reviews for management visits, store presentations, and as required by the management team.

Retail Support:

  • Establish credibility and build strong relationships with retail leaders from each store.
  • Support new store openings by implementing merchandising displays in collaboration with VM team & Supply Chain.
  • In partnership with Retail Learning, develop and deploy both tactical product and VM training as well as strategic messaging to ensure retail support in larger zone initiatives.
  • Gather feedback, support client events and constantly assess merchandising and VM decisions as realized in retail environments.
  • Bring awareness and motivation around merchandising strategies.
  • In partnership with zone client teams, execute caravans, selling events and innovative concepts/animations to drive sales through enhanced client loyalty and recruitment.

Visual Merchandising

  • Supervise and manage ANZ Visual Merchandising (VM) team
  • Lead and manage special CVM activations with stores and cross-functional partners locally and in the zone
  • Align on collection placement strategy to support productivity and sales objectives.
  • Analyse and provide timely feedback and updates on the effectiveness of floor plan moves.
  • Track the effectiveness of product initiatives as highlighted within caseline and creative fixtures.
  • Monitor capacity needs.
  • Partner with Retail, CVM, and Operations Teams to ensure perfect retail execution.

Team Management & Leadership

  • Supervise and guide merchandising and VM team members
  • Set clear goals, provide ongoing coaching, and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and support team members' development, accountability, and ownership.

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for the luxury jewelry industry, with strong merchandising strategy, analytical skills, and business acumen.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' professional experience, including proven leadership in managing teams.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic team environment.
  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with a global luxury brand.
  • Solid knowledge of gemstones and fine jewelry (GIA certification is a plus).
