Job Description

The Merchandising Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Optical Merchandising team. This role focuses on basic product setup, organization, vendor communication, and helping ensure that our optical locations receive the right products and merchandising materials. This is an excellent entry-level role for someone interested in retail, merchandising, or the optical industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Product & Data Support
  • Enter new product information, SKUs, pricing, and attributes accurately into internal systems.
  • Update product lists, catalogs, and spreadsheets as items are added, changed, or discontinued.
  • Track and organize samples, product photos, and vendor materials.

Inventory & Vendor Support

  • Assist with placing basic product orders and tracking shipment status.
  • Communicate with vendors on simple order questions, availability, and pricing updates.
  • Support monthly inventory tasks, including reconciling lists and pulling basic reports.

Merchandising & Store Support

  • Prepare and send merchandising materials (frame tags, display pieces, signage) to stores.
  • Assist with creating simple planograms or display instructions.
  • Help audit store photos to ensure displays match standards.
  • Support seasonal resets, product swaps, and promotional updates.

Reporting & Administrative Work

  • Pull weekly or monthly sales/product reports as directed.
  • Maintain organized shared folders and merchandising files.
  • Support the merchandising team with administrative tasks, scheduling, and project tracking.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Retail, customer service, or administrative experience is a plus.
  • No optical experience required—training provided.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with Excel/Google Sheets; willing to learn new systems.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple small tasks.
  • Clear communicator with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to learn about optical products and merchandising.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 15–20 lbs for transporting materials/samples.
  • Some travel to local stores (<5%) may be required.
