Merchandiser

Pay Range: $50,000 - $75,000


Purpose and Summary
Under the direction of the Merchandising Manager, this position will be an active member of the merchandising team while also working closely with the grain accounting department and the operations team. They will assist with the buying, selling, hedging, and logistics of grain commodities.

Essential Job Duties
Adhere to Encompass Grain’s risk policy

Regularly monitor commodity balances and trends at all Encompass Grain locations

Develop and maintain strong relationships with farmers and processors

Originate bushels while continually seeking opportunities to expand our origination draw area and market presence

Review market information to enhance knowledge and understanding of grain markets

Assist with the coordination of transportation of grain via truck or rail

Gain a complete understanding of customer status in Agris in order to determine accurate contract balances and applications

Other Responsibilities
Maintain a high level of customer service with a positive and respectful attitude

Assist in bid sheet distribution and website updates

Contribute to grain accounting team processes

Must be able to work extended hours, primarily during the harvest season

Qualifications
Normally requires 2-3 years of industry experience

Must be able to regularly call customers and comfortably build relationships with them

Must have good personal and communication skills, in addition to organization and attention to detail

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
