Syracuse, NY 13261 - Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Facility

Salary Range: $18.38-19.24 per hour

About the Role:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Facility. This position performs a variety of custodial duties, including cleaning restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas, as well as maintaining facility cleanliness through waste removal, dusting, floor care, and window cleaning. The Custodian safely operates and maintains cleaning equipment, follows all safety protocols, and helps ensure high standards of cleanliness and professionalism. The role also includes occasional exterior grounds maintenance duties, such as snow removal, salting, mowing, and edging, as assigned. Working collaboratively as part of a team, the Custodian contributes to a safe and well-maintained facility for employees, visitors, and the community.

Education and Experience: Requires an IEP, GED, or high school education or equivalent, with experience in grounds maintenance procedures.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets; write simple reports; and speak effectively before customers or management.

Instruction and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: Regularly stand and walk; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; and reach with digits, hands, and arms. Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds with assistance. Close vision is required.

Work Environment: Exposure to noise, dust, heat, fumes, and other elements, with several continuously present to the extent of being disagreeable.
