Job Description

Lead the systems that power mission-critical performance.

Safety Management Systems (SMS), an Acadian company, is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction for a mission-critical data center build in Mississippi.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex infrastructure, guide skilled project teams, and turn demanding schedules into successful results. From critical power distribution and backup generation to cooling and life safety systems, your leadership will help deliver a facility built for reliability.

Make an Impact

  • Drive project execution: Lead MEP construction from preconstruction through commissioning and final turnover, coordinating trade contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
  • Deliver results: Manage MEP budgets, schedules, procurement, change orders, and cost forecasts. Anticipate long-lead equipment risks and resolve issues that could affect delivery.
  • Build reliability: Oversee electrical distribution, generators, UPS, switchgear, chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Champion safety and quality: Monitor compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and Tier III/IV requirements. Conduct field inspections and resolve installation and coordination challenges.
  • Lead collaboration: Serve as the primary technical liaison for MEP systems, facilitate coordination meetings, and review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Support successful commissioning: Partner with the Commissioning Authority and BIM/VDC teams to coordinate testing, resolve clashes, and prepare systems for client acceptance.

Bring Your Expertise

  • 5+ years of project management experience directly overseeing MEP systems on large-scale, mission-critical builds, such as data centers, semiconductor plants, or industrial high-tech facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of critical electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life safety infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, budgets, procurement, and complex construction schedules.
  • Clear communication, sound judgment, and the ability to lead teams through demanding project milestones.

We are looking for a leader who anticipates challenges, follows through, and holds teams accountable while building productive working relationships.
