
Teachers who apply for these positions should have previously attended the teacher mentor training provided and/or plan to attend the training this school year held by the West Virginia Department of Education. Teacher Mentor positions will be available to assist new teachers acclimate to Mercer County Schools. The selection of these trained mentors will be based on the new teachers' programmatic levels and certification. Mentors will be assigned within the school of the new teachers' home school if possible. Mentors will be required to attend the six (6) Network Meetings to meet their mentees as well as visit assigned mentees who do not attend the Network Meetings. Mentors will also need to meet before/after school (outside of their workday) with their mentee monthly. Stipends will be provided for these positions based upon their amount of time worked. Mentor Teachers will be hired based on an as needed basis based on programmatic and certification area needs. * Note: Extra-Curricular contracts are one (1) year only contracts will terminate at the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
