Mentor Teacher
To serve as an exemplary teacher and instructional leader providing knowledge, skills and resources needed to improve classroom practice while fostering a collaborative learning environment built around professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
* Continuing contract teacher in Farmington Public Schools.
* Committed to professional development and growth.
* Demonstrates a willingness to listen, support and encourage probationary teachers.
* Demonstrates respect for children, colleagues, parents and district leadership.
Essential Functions:
* Attends Mentor training during Summer/Fall - training would include Charlotte Danielson Framework of Teaching (CDFT) and Reflective Teaching protocols and basic foundations of mentoring.
* Attends a New Teacher Workshop in the Fall to meet with mentee (if mentee is new to the district).
* Meets at least twice a month with mentee; maintains a log and assists mentee with Professional Development/Growth Portfolio.
* Attends monthly mentor meetings with Steering Committee member; four of these will be on focused topics with reflective follow-up.
* Observes teachers using the Reflective Teaching model of a pre-conference, observation and facilitates reflective follow-up dialogue, in conjunction with District 192's Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching (CDFT) procedures for observations.
Nominal Stipend: $1040
The position will pay a fixed stipend as delineated in Schedule Q of the teacher contract. The stipend amount is considered a "nominal stipend". The amount of the stipend will not change based on the number of daily hours that are devoted to duties.
