Position Type: Internship - Paid

Salary Range: $20.00 HourlyMental Health Worker - paid internship

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a student in a behavioral health field to join our Integrated Community Supports (ICS) team at our apartment-based program in Little Canada. Our ICS program works with individuals who qualify for waiver services and who choose to live in an individual apartment setting. Our staff provide training and support with community participation; health, safety, and wellness; household managementment, and adaptive skills.

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, regular business hours

Hiring Range: $20.00 per hour

  • Develop Person-Centered Support Skills. Learn how to support individuals in achieving personal goals while promoting choice, independence, dignity, and self-advocacy.
  • Gain Experience Supporting Community Integration. Understand how to assist individuals in accessing community resources, building social connections, and participating in meaningful activities that enhance quality of life.
  • Build Professional Documentation and Communication Skills. Learn to complete accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, and follow agency policies and DHS requirements.

Main Job Duties

  • Assist individuals with developing and maintaining skills such as meal planning, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, budgeting, and other daily living tasks that promote independence.
  • Support individuals in accessing community resources, attending appointments, participating in social and recreational activities, and working toward their identified goals.
  • Monitor the well-being and safety of individuals, implement support and safety plans including Individual Abuse Program Plans, report concerns, and complete accurate documentation of services and progress.
  • Ensure that all assigned daily tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Attend all required and assigned meetings and training.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Currently attending or recently graduated from a bachelor’s program in social human services, psychology, social work, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with or knowledge of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, chemical dependency, developmental disabilities, and/or other health conditions that impact mental health.
  • Interest in working with adults experiencing serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, or behavioral health crises.
  • Previous volunteer work, or practicum experience in human services or behavioral health is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to meet program and academic requirements for an internship or practicum placement.
