Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Mental Health Therapist - Staff $35.546 to $43.466

The Primary Health Care (PHC) Counselor reports to the Primary Health Care Manager-Central. Professional peer review and responsibility will be maintained through a joint accountability to Mental Health/Addictions. The incumbent is a member of the PHC team, in a collaborative, co-location model. The incumbent is responsible for ongoing mental health and psychosocial services for their clients. This position screens and assesses the needs of referred clients and determines a treatment plan which may include short term intervention with the counselor and/or case management or referral to other community programs. The PHC Counselor initiates/participates in community development initiatives and participates in the evaluation of PHC initiatives within the site. Incumbent promotes quality health care outcomes working within established standards of practice ensuring clients receive a high standard of primary health care. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Other Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing is acceptable
  • Bachelor of Social Work is acceptable
