Compensation:
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

About the Program: Residential Treatment Program (STRTP) This short-term residential therapeutic program provides services to pregnant, parenting, and at-risk young women (and their children) ages 13-18 in the foster care and/or juvenile justice system. These youth are typically placed by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) or Probation Department.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Residential Clinical Services, the Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) provides therapeutic rehabilitation services for clients placed in STRTP to ensure comprehensive client care. The MHRS will ensure that documentation adheres to DMH standards and participate in an interdisciplinary team to provide a healthy, therapeutic, and safe environment for clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group therapeutic rehabilitation for designated caseload of clients.
  • Coordinate linkage to appropriate intra-agency and community resources.
  • Participate in Child and Family Team Meetings
  • Collaborate with treatment team to ensure quality client care.
  • Conduct visits to schools and/or other service providers in order to help client achieve their service plan goals.
  • Manage community and family crises involving children and parents if applicable.
  • Document client services in accordance with DMH standards.
  • Interface with Department of Children and Family Services, Department of Mental Health, court systems, schools, law enforcement, health care providers and other community liaisons.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus 4 years of relevant work experience, or a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling with 2 years of relevant work experience, or an Associate’s degree with 6 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience in In-Home Services or work with children, adolescents, and their families preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills in individual and group therapeutic rehabilitation.
  • Physical ability to perform Pro-ACT, administer First Aid/CPR and operate an agency motor vehicle.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
