
The Salvation Army Family Haven Shelter located in St. Louis, MO, is looking for a Mental Health Counselor. This individual will provide mental health and substance abuse assessment, intervention, treatment planning, counseling and referrals for veterans, clients and their families. This position will provide individual, group and family counseling and prevention services. Educate staff and residents on crisis intervention, stress management, mental health, trauma, resilience and addiction.
This is a Full-time 40 hours per week with salary of $63,000- $73,000 depending on education and experiences.
Essential Functions
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, human services or related field with at least two years of related work experience in mental health and/or addiction counseling. Combination of education and experience will be considered. LPC or LCSW or licensure eligibility required; CCDP and Substance Abuse Supervision credentials are a plus. Must have an outgoing personality with good communication skills, ability to work in a team setting and an ability to work with difficult individuals. Strong leadership style and good organizational skills required. Knowledge of The Salvation Army and government, state and community resources is helpful. Must be computer literate and able to utilize computers for documentation of work. CPR/First Aid certification required. Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Requires a high level of confidentiality. Must have a valid drivers’ license and pass TSA MVR check.
