This position is responsible for growing and retaining Society membership, as well as managing key affinity groups and programs, including Students, Young Professionals, and Women in Communications Engineering (WICE).

Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Membership, the Senior Manager of Membership and Programs, and volunteer leaders, the incumbent helps develop and execute strategies and initiatives that support membership growth, engagement, and retention.

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing and Membership, this individual serves as an individual contributor and plays a key role in advancing the Society's membership objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with volunteer leaders and staff to define and evolve the ComSoc membership value proposition, ensuring programs and benefits meet the needs of a diverse and global community.
  • Lead the development, growth, and execution of programs that support professional development, leadership, networking, mentoring, and community building for students, YPs, and WICE members with the goal of recruitment and retention.
  • Champion initiatives that strengthen student and early-career member engagement, helping to build vibrant volunteer pipelines and future Society leadership.
  • Collaborate and strategizes with the marketing and membership teams to create compelling outreach, communications, and engagement campaigns that foster participation throughout the member lifecycle.
  • Use membership and program data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and inform strategies that drive growth, engagement, and retention.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of assigned programs and affinity groups, recommending enhancements and new opportunities to maximize member impact and satisfaction.
  • Represent ComSoc at conferences, events, and stakeholder meetings, promoting membership value and building relationships across the communications engineering community.
  • Support Society-wide initiatives, including humanitarian and community engagement activities, that advance ComSoc's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Partner with volunteer leaders and staff to define and evolve the ComSoc membership value proposition, ensuring programs and benefits meet the needs of a diverse and global community.
  • Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Business Management, related field or equivalent experience Req

Work Experience

  • 4-7 years experience in membership development and retention.
  • A minimum of 4 years of large non-profit or association management experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience using CRM platforms
  • Experience working with membership base
  • Trade show experience is a plus Req

Licenses and Certifications

  • CAE - Certified Association Executive Pref

Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills within and across organizations
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Strong project/program management skills (from creation to implementation)
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated performance in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Domestic and international travel to attend major meetings and conferences required.
