Job Description

We are pleased to offer an outstanding and substantive internship program for the nation's best and brightest young leaders.

At the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, you will obtain a hands-on, meaningful work experience designed to meet your academic and career goals. Our internships offer opportunities in research, writing, database management, policy, communications, and event preparation.

During the internship, you will network with colleagues and senior executives while participating in educational and professional activities designed to enhance your experience.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Chamber Internship Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn at the world's largest business organization. In addition to directly supporting a team in the organization, interns have an opportunity to participate in a variety of programming that will help build professional skills and networks.

Responsibilities for interns typically include research, drafting memos, content creation, and event planning and coordination. Specific responsibilities vary by department and semester.

The Chamber also offers robust programming each semester to support professional development and networking for interns. These opportunities include company-wide meetings and social events, intern-exclusive discussions with senior executives such as the CEO, the Chief Policy Officer, and the President of the Foundation, as well as a resume review and interview preparation workshop.

The internship is expected to run from February 1 through April 9. Interns work a part-time hybrid schedule and are expected to be in the office at least three days a week at our U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in downtown Washington, D.C. Fully remote applicants will not be considered. Interns will be responsible for making their own housing accommodations if needed.

This is a paid internship, and students may also receive academic credit if they meet the criteria set by their school. The hourly rate for this position is between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour. This internship is open to current college or graduate students, as well as individuals who have graduated within the past six months.

DEPARTMENT MATCHING

These teams support the Chamber's member engagement, stakeholder outreach, coalition building, and organizational strategy through relationship management, research, event coordination, and partnership development. Interns will gain exposure to how the Chamber engages its members, partners, and the broader business community to advance its mission.

After you submit your resume, our Talent Acquisition team will review it. If your skills match what we are looking for, the relevant department will reach out for an interview.

Please review the departments below closely. In the application, please indicate your top two department preferences.

Federation Relations and Coalition Partnerships

The Federation Relations & Coalition Partnerships team manages relationships with state and local chambers of commerce, trade associations, and small businesses, maintaining a membership presence in every U.S. state. Through programs like the Washington Fly-In Briefing and virtual policy briefings, the team connects local business leaders with national policy experts and advocacy resources. Interns may assist with outreach coordination, event planning, member communications, and research that supports grassroots engagement and strengthens the Chamber's nationwide network.

Member Relations and Corporate Research

The Member Relations intern will support the Chamber's membership engagement and research efforts by developing background materials, conducting company and industry research, and assisting with member-facing initiatives. Interns will gain exposure to relationship management, executive engagement, and organizational strategy while supporting projects tied to member retention and growth. This role is ideal for candidates interested in business research, stakeholder engagement, communications, and the intersection of business and policy.

Executive Office

The Executive Office serves as the central hub for the Chamber's leadership and governance activities. Supporting the CEO, senior executives, and the board of directors, the team ensures strategic alignment across departments and facilitates high-level decision-making. Interns may assist with executive communications, project coordination, and preparation for leadership meetings and engagements, gaining insight into organizational strategy and operations at the highest level.

Strategic Alliances & Outreach

The Strategic Alliances & Outreach team builds and activates partnerships across diverse audiences — from civic organizations and universities to entrepreneurs and advocacy groups — to amplify the voice of business and promote inclusive economic growth. The team is also at the forefront of the Chamber's growing sports and entertainment portfolio, championing the business of sports through high-profile events, the Business of Sports content series, and initiatives like the 2027 NFL Draft. This is an ideal role for candidates interested in partnership development, event management, and the intersection of business, policy, and sports.

Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness (CCMC)

The Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness (CCMC) advances America's global leadership in capital formation by supporting capital markets that are fair, transparent, efficient, and innovative. CCMC advocates on behalf of American businesses to ensure that legislation and regulation strengthen our capital markets — enabling businesses of all sizes to mitigate risks, manage liquidity, access credit, and raise capital. Interns will support policy research, regulatory tracking, stakeholder engagement, and the development of materials that advance the Chamber's financial policy priorities.

Applications are accepted until Thursday, November 12. Interviews will be conducted in November & December.

This internship requires U.S. work authorization and is open to candidates with Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and/or Optional Practical Training (OPT).

We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
