Salary: $180,000 – $275,000 + 0.5%–1.5% Equity

Our client is building an AI-native platform modernizing healthcare insurance workflows for small and mid-sized businesses.
They are replacing legacy brokerage operations with production-grade AI agents that automate quoting, enrollment, census normalization, servicing workflows, and carrier integrations — delivering dramatically better healthcare access at lower operational cost.
Backed by top-tier investors with an elite second-time founding team, this is an opportunity to join extremely early and help define engineering culture while building AI systems solving real healthcare infrastructure problems.
Own backend-heavy full-stack product domains end-to-end
Build production AI agents automating insurance brokerage workflows
Design and ship carrier integrations (portal automation, APIs, EDI/SFTP pipelines)
Build workflow orchestration systems using modern agentic infrastructure
Develop backend systems for data ingestion, normalization, automation, and monitoring
Contribute across TypeScript/Python backend and React frontend surfaces
Partner directly with product and ops teams to identify automation opportunities
Ship production-grade AI systems replacing manual internal workflows
Build browser automation and workflow execution pipelines
Help define engineering standards for future team scaling
Operate autonomously in a high-ownership startup environment
Work closely with leadership on architecture and roadmap decisions
2–8 years of software engineering experience
Backend-leaning full-stack engineering background
Strong experience at VC-backed startups or top-tier tech companies
Prior startup experience strongly preferred
Experience shipping production systems independently
Strong TypeScript and/or Python proficiency
Experience with React or modern frontend frameworks
Experience building AI-powered workflows / agentic systems
Experience with browser automation, workflow orchestration, or integrations
CS degree from a top-tier university strongly preferred
Healthcare / insurance experience is a plus, not required
Built production AI agents or workflow automation systems
Experience with Temporal / orchestration frameworks
Experience with Playwright / browser automation
Experience integrating external systems via APIs / EDI / SFTP
Founding engineer or early engineering hire experience
Daily user of modern AI coding tools (Cursor / Claude / similar)
Experience in high-autonomy environments
Strong ownership of architecture decisions
