Job Description

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Fort Knox prioritizes being a strong contributor to the State and local communities, and since 2001, has helped support more than 300 community partners and has contributed more than US$25 million to the Alaska Mental Health Trust.

Plan and coordinate the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly repair schedules for all Mobile Equipment Maintenance. Keep equipment, spare parts, manuals, and files up-to-date. Plan and coordinate outside services work.

Job Responsibilities

1. Schedule equipment for preventative maintenance and appropriate backlog for coordination with MEM crew staffing.
2. Maintain work orders and data within the maintenance management system for the MEM department to ensure compliance with site requirements.
3. Coordinate and expedite parts to meet the mobile equipment schedule.
4. Review daily work schedule from each crew and follow up on work orders that need generated from the preventive maintenance inspections.
5. Work with the Mine Planning, Operations and Maintenance Management to prioritize and schedule equipment maintenance.
6. Keep detailed records of all equipment repairs, rebuilds, routine maintenance, etc.
7. Maintain up-to-date history for each piece of mobile equipment.
8. Update spare parts lists and warehouse stock levels as needed.
9. Equipment operations including, but not limited to, small vehicles, fork lifts, and cranes (overhead and service truck).
10. Report preparation including, but not limited to, daily work schedules, work order backlogs, downtime forecasts, and monthly reports.
11. Maintain relations with various departments and equipment manufacturers' representatives.
12. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
13. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
14. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
15. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
16. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
17. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
18. Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write, perform simple mathematics, and maintain neat and accurate records.
  2. Must have a mechanical background in mobile equipment maintenance.

Skills

  1. Must have an understanding of scheduling maintenance for mobile equipment.
  2. Must have an understanding of service and parts manuals.
  3. JD Edwards’s maintenance management experience preferred. Comparable ERP experience desired.
  4. Good working knowledge and skills with computerized work processing and Microsoft based programs.
  5. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  7. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  8. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  9. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.

Reporting Relationships

This position reports to the planning and reliability general supervisor.
