Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Memphis is seeking a qualified Melt Shop Mechanic to support the execution of the plant maintenance strategy. This position is responsible for safely troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading mechanical equipment in a heavy industrial steelmaking environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and upgrade mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications
• Maintain and repair equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machinery, and related plant equipment
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments to perform maintenance tasks
• Observe equipment in operation and identify mechanical issues through sound, vibration, and performance indicators
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability
• Accurately document work performed using EBS or a similar Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in all work areas

Minimum Qualifications:

• • Two (2) years of experience in mechanical or industrial maintenance with hands-on troubleshooting or completion of a technical school program with related internship
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Four-year technical degree or equivalent industrial experience
• Three (3) to five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience
• Steel mill or heavy industrial experience
• Experience with EBS or similar CMMS systems
• Experience with industrial hydraulic systems
• Air compressor operation and maintenance experience
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Understanding of basic electrical theory
• Gearbox setup and precision alignment experience
