A Brief Overview

Under the direction of the MEG MRI Team Leader the MEG/Research MRI Patient Coordinator will facilitate patient scheduling and coordination to increase efficiency and productivity. Serves as liaison between the research and clinical teams and the technologists to ensure timely and accurate scheduling of patients for MEG and Research MRI exams.

What you will do

  • Obtain orders from EPIC work basket, email and other means of communication
  • Create patient file to include medical history, prior surgical history and epilepsy etiology
  • Obtain patient records from outside facilities and upload to EPIC as available
  • Coordinate insurance approval through communication with financial clearance team
  • Contact patient/family to explain the MEG and/or MRI exam and:
  • - provide information regarding options for non sedate, sedation or general anesthesia
  • - complete initial MRI screening and obtain surgical history and/or implant documentation when appropriate
  • Communicate via EPIC secure chat with Sedation Triage RN team for Decision Tree for general
  • anesthesia and sedation requirements for exams
  • Contact Radiology Scheduling/Access Center to facilitate appointment scheduling
  • Add scheduled appointment to appropriate resource Outlook calendar
  • Coordinate as needed with Neurology to manage VNS (vagal nerve stimulator) prior to and
  • immediately following exam
  • Confirm appointment with patient prior to date of service
  • Forward exam specific Power Point and finalized report to Radiologist for approval
  • Upon Radiologist’s approval, convert power point to PDF and forward to ordering provider
  • Assist PhDs in scheduling scanner time for protocol building and optimization
  • Coordinate with Global Medicine for international patient requests
  • Support schedule coordination of patients that require multi-modality exams
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Associate's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years Hospital, medical office or related healthcare experience - Required
  • Prior experience with EPIC and coordinating patient appointments - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge and solid understanding of all information systems utilized for the Radiology processes (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Required proficiency)
  • Good verbal and communication skills; accurate documentation skills; ability to read and correctly pronounce medical terminology; must have excellent phone etiquette (Required proficiency)
  • Must have good computer skills to understand, navigate, and enter data on multiple IT systems and Radiology-centric systems (Required proficiency)
  • Must be able to multitask and handle acute, stressful and busy periods (Required proficiency)
  • Task completion with accuracy is critical (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to function efficiently and professionally with a minimum of supervision (Required proficiency)

SALARY RANGE:

$23.20 - $28.95 Hourly

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
