EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education
    Associate's Degree or higher.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT BCLS

    Certified (or eligible for certification) by American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists in EEG and/or Evoked potentials.
Preferred
  • Experience
    Prior experience with patients or research subjects or prior administrative experience and/or administrative manager experience

    May consider additional years of experience in lieu of education.

JOB DUTIES
  • MEG EQUIPMENT SPECIFIC :
  • Performs quality control on assigned equipment and reports issues in a timely fashion.
  • Checks equipment and accessories to ensure proper working order prior to exams, performs troubleshooting if not operating, and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs.
  • Assists with scheduling and coordinating exams as appropriate to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Responds to scheduling inquiries/calls from researchers
  • Ensures clinical and research schedules are updated to avoid double booking
  • Performs supply inventory and orders supplies as needed
  • Maintains list of supplies used per clinical case and study in order to provide cost estimate of disposable supplies per case. Investigates and finds supplies to fit needs
  • Communicates supply changes/needs to contractors (i.e. Linens company)
  • Monitors and trains students and/or researchers in all areas of current competencies.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of MEG by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and maintaining certification. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • PATIENT AND RESEARCH SUBJECT INTERACTION:
  • Communicates with patients/subjects clearly and in a professional manner.
  • Ensures proper patient/subject preparation, verifies screening protocols, and answers questions.
  • Evaluates patient/subject history and symptoms for the procedures clinical criteria.
  • Assist patient/subject in dressing for exam and attends to patients' physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and table, and positioning for exam.
  • Instructs/communicates with patient/subject and/or patients'/subjects' family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and assesses the patient's/subject's ability to tolerate exam.
  • EXAM PERFORMANCE FOR CLINICAL AND RESEARCH STUDIES:
  • Performs standard and complex MEG procedures, utilizing routine and research protocols.
  • Ensures that scans and records are properly completed with patient/subject identification data and appropriate labeling.
  • Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.
  • Clinical Specific:
  • Abstracts relevant information from patient's clinical record and questions patient for additional information
  • Verifies the requisition/chart for valid written order, priority date, ordering comments, physician's notes, precautions and patient consent forms.
  • Observes and notes clinical phenomena occurring during patient's/subject's procedure
  • Completes exam charges and documentation and forwards to physician in a timely
  • Research: Verifies research protocol with study team, and ensures consent is complete
  • Assists the MEG Scientist as needed in performing additional imaging procedures.
  • Participates in various accreditation processes as directed.
  • GENERAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Attends departmental and facility meetings/classes (minimum 90% attendance).
  • Performs pertinent duties in the best interest of patients, personnel and the facility as assigned.
  • Adheres to departmental time, attendance and tardiness guidelines.
  • Wears employee ID and follows dress code policy.
  • As appropriate, may assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the designated supervisor.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in all regulatory compliance activities.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
