The role

We are looking for a Medior/Senior Backend Developer to join our long-term partnership with ICA Retail – Customer Solutions.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sarajevo.

ICA is one of Sweden’s largest retail organizations, with more than 50% of the Swedish grocery retail market and approximately 1,300 stores across the country.

You will join the department responsible for developing and maintaining the MSO and Digital Campaign Management applications. The team builds digital solutions supporting ICA’s marketing, customer loyalty, e-commerce, retailers, customer service, and end consumers.

The team is looking for a driven, solution-oriented, and quality-focused developer who combines strong .NET experience with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.

Project

You will work with two business-critical applications:

MSO – Marketing Store Object is ICA’s central platform for managing and distributing store information. It serves as the master source for data such as opening hours, services, URLs, and marketing attributes.

The team develops and maintains APIs, integrations, and data services that make accurate and up-to-date store information available across ICA’s digital ecosystem.

Digital Campaign Management is ICA Reklam’s central platform for creating and distributing digital marketing campaigns. It manages campaigns, offers, system integrations, and automated advertisement publishing across a wide range of digital channels.

A major focus is developing new solutions that support ICA’s existing business and new digital channels while ensuring the stability and reliability of current systems.

The work includes:

• Developing and maintaining backend applications using C# and .NET
• Building robust and scalable backend solutions
• Developing new functionality and maintaining existing systems
• Working with SQL and data-intensive applications
• Developing and maintaining APIs and system integrations
• Working with cloud-based services in Microsoft Azure
• Working with business-critical store, campaign, and offer data
• Ensuring data quality and reliable information flows across integrated systems
• Applying object-oriented analysis and design principles
• Writing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code
• Working with unit tests and contributing to code quality
• Troubleshooting application, integration, and production issues
• Collaborating closely with developers, the Delivery Lead, UX Designer, and other team members
• Contributing to technical decisions and continuous improvements
• Working within a collaborative Scrum/Agile environment

Requirements:

• Several years of professional backend development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET
• Solid knowledge of SQL
• Experience developing and maintaining production applications
• Good understanding of object-oriented analysis and design
• Experience working with backend services and system integrations
• Experience with or good understanding of Microsoft Azure
• Strong focus on code quality, scalability, and maintainability
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Driven, collaborative, customer-focused, and solution-oriented approach
• Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments
• Fluent English communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience developing RESTful APIs in C#
• Experience with TDD and unit testing
• Experience with document databases such as Azure Cosmos DB or MongoDB
• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or Azure Service Bus
• Experience working with event-driven or asynchronous systems
• Experience with business-critical retail, e-commerce, or marketing platforms
