As an embedded software (firmware) engineer in R&D, you will focus on designing and developing embedded software for the microcontrollers in our Quooker products. You will improve current Quooker products and research, analyze, and implement new techniques and solutions for future products. You will independently create software for the projects you are working on, while also contributing to overall software improvement within the R&D software team. In multidisciplinary product development processes, you will work with colleagues to come up with smart solutions, each drawing on their own knowledge, experience, and insight.

At Quooker, 60 R&D colleagues work on the development of Quooker. A group of 15 colleagues work on the electronics of our products, of which approximately 5 engineers are full-time software and firmware developers who form the software team.
Minimum HBO/WO electrical engineering (HBO with minor embedded systems) or computer science.
You are a mid-level engineer and have at least 3 years of experience in writing production-ready firmware.
You use pipelines, CICD, GIT Flow, and code reviews.
You are experienced in using C and C++ and are familiar with design patterns and software architecture.
You will be working in the Netherlands at Headquarters in Ridderkerk (and 20% from home).
You speak English fluently (and Dutch preferable).
Het verhaal van Quooker is begonnen in 1970. De Rotterdamse Henri Peteri werkte bij Unilever en was op het hoofdkantoor in Londen, toen hij een ingeving kreeg die zijn leven voorgoed zou veranderen. Het was tijdens een presentatie over instant soep. ‘En daar moet water bij dat vijf minuten op het vuur moet staan?’ dacht Peteri, ‘Wat een waanzin! Waarom komt er in onze huizen geen gekookt water uit de mengkraan?!’ Eenmaal thuis dook Peteri de kelder in om een prototype te ontwikkelen van de eerste kokendwaterkraan ter wereld. Dat kostte veel tijd en geld. Maar toen het eerste model er was, verkocht Peteri hem aan vrienden en bekenden, die razend enthousiast waren. Wie eenmaal een Quooker-systeem had, kon niet meer zonder.
Toen zoon Niels zijn studie voltooid had en zich bij zijn vader voegde, werd het idee een product. In 1992 werd de eerste Quooker (‘quick cooker’) geïntroduceerd. Vanaf het moment dat ook zoon Walter in het bedrijf stapte, begon Quooker langzaam maar zeker terrein te winnen in de markt. Vanaf 2000 begon het écht goed te gaan. De kokendwaterkraan sloeg aan in Nederland. In 2004 werd de eerste partij Quookers naar het buitenland geëxporteerd.
Niels Peteri: ‘Dat steeds meer mensen een Quooker-systeem omarmen als onmisbare tool in de moderne keuken, is te zien aan de afzet, die explosief stijgt. Daar zijn we heel trots op. Achterover leunen is echter geen optie. We willen blijven vernieuwen. Dat doen we onder meer door onze eigen productiemiddelen te ontwikkelen, wat ons in staat stelt om originele oplossingen te bedenken. Quooker staat op het punt om de wereld te veroveren. Zoveel mogelijk particuliere keukens van kokend water voorzien, op een slimme en verantwoorde manier, dát is de ambitie. Daarom wordt er in het hoofdkantoor in Ridderkerk iedere dag met meer dan 575 mensen gewerkt aan nieuwe technische ideeën en ontwerpoplossingen om de kranen nóg zuiniger, nóg makkelijker in gebruik en nóg mooier te maken.
