🔹About the project
You'll join a team building and running the backend of a leading Dutch shipping platform that connects 80+ shop systems and carriers across Europe. Merchants use it to ship, track, and manage returns and claims at scale - meaning millions of parcel events flow through the system every day. Your focus will be a set of Python microservices at the heart of the platform. You'll work on event-driven services that process high volumes of carrier and parcel data in near real time, backend integrations with external carrier systems, and data pipelines that turn operational data into reporting and automation. You'll own features end-to-end — from design and implementation through deployment and monitoring in production.
The team is a mix of senior and mid-level engineers working closely with a Scrum Master, alongside the core platform and middleware teams.
🔹Requirements
Strong knowledge of Python 3.12+
Confident hands-on experience with a modern web framework ( FastAPI, Django/DRF, or django-ninja)
2+ years of commercial experience building and deploying web applications and APIs
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and relational database design
Experience with unit testing, debugging, and code review
Good understanding of deployment processes ( Docker, CI/CD)
Experience working with REST APIs and third-party integrations
Upper-Intermediate level of English
Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international, English-speaking team
🔹Nice to have
Experience with event-driven/message-based architectures ( NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, inbox/outbox patterns)
Experience with web scraping and browser automation ( Playwright, Selenium, Scrapy)
Experience working with high-load systems and performance optimization
Experience with Apache Airflow or other data pipeline / ETL tools
Familiarity with Kubernetes, ArgoCD/GitOps, and observability tools ( Datadog)
Experience with Pydantic and asynchronous Python
Experience with cloud infrastructure ( AWS)
