We are seeking an experienced registered nurse and healthcare leader to serve as the Medication Administration Program (MAP) Director - Rest Homes. This position is responsible for the overall coordination, oversight, and administration of the Medication Administration Program (MAP) for Resident Care Facility Level IV Rest Homes. The Director works closely with Rest Home administrators, nursing directors, responsible persons, training and testing vendors, and other agency partners to promote consistent implementation of MAP requirements and compliance with applicable Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations, policies, and standards. The successful candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, regulatory knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance for providers and stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):Program Oversight and Regulatory ComplianceProvide Department oversight of the Medication Administration Program to ensure compliance with DPH regulations, policies, and standards, including monitoring the clinical and administrative practices of DPH Drug Control Program MAP-registered Rest Homes.Ensure MAP guidelines, processes, and databases are implemented consistently through regular communication and collaboration with Rest Home administrators, nursing directors, and responsible persons.Oversee MAP compliance reviews and provide technical assistance to MAP-registered Rest Homes.Interpret and explain, both orally and in writing, applicable laws, regulations, standards, rules, and policies governing medication administration in community programs.Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies governing the issuance and revocation of MAP certificates.Maintain regular communication and collaboration with EHS agency MAP Directors through scheduled meetings and other communications.Gather feedback from MAP-registered Rest Homes and communicate relevant information to appropriate Department and program stakeholders. Training, Testing, and CertificationDevelop, review, and revise MAP curriculum and supplemental training materials to ensure content remains accurate and current.Manage the relationship with the MAP testing vendor, including monitoring certification and recertification testing processes and vendor billing.Serve as an advisor to the testing entity when test results are questioned by employers or test candidates.Provide subject-matter expertise, feedback, and resources regarding MAP test questions.Monitor and analyze MAP training and testing data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.Collaborate with MAP training and testing vendors to address program issues and develop effective solutions.Identify and oversee the development and dissemination of supplemental MAP training tools, protocols, and general program information for Rest Homes and MAP trainers.Oversee the informal hearing process related to revocation of MAP certification. Medication Occurrence Reporting and Technical AssistanceOversee the Medication Occurrence Reporting (MOR) process, including analysis of occurrence data and identification of trends related to occurrence types, contributing factors, and corrective actions.Establish and maintain procedures for managing hotline MORs.Work directly with Rest Homes to address medication administration concerns through consultation, education, and technical assistance.Provide guidance to Rest Homes on medication administration matters, including training, certification testing, recertification, MAP regulations, MAP Policy Manual updates, and MOR requirements.Prepare and report MAP and MOR data as appropriate to support Drug Control Program operations and program improvement. Leadership, Collaboration, and EquityBuild productive working relationships with Rest Homes, agency partners, vendors, trainers, and other stakeholders.Communicate complex clinical and regulatory requirements clearly to audiences with varying levels of expertise.Support race, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workplace and in the delivery of services. Required Qualifications:Knowledge of the principles and practices of health care administration.Knowledge of the rules, regulations and policies of the Medication Administration Program.Ability to work independently and in an organized, detail-oriented fashion.Ability to analyze and evaluate data and draw conclusions, make appropriate recommendations, and provide oral and written reports to administration. Preferred Qualifications:At least six years of full-time paid experience as a registered nurse of which at least three have been in an applied clinical or administrative capacity.Effective administrative and organizational skills, with ability to oversee several projects simultaneously.Demonstrated ability to independently review large quantities of information and to identify critical issues.Ability to consistently exercise independent judgment, maintain objectivity and be adaptable and flexible.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate in a collaborative manner.Knowledge of federal, state, and professional standards, laws and regulations.Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
