Primary Care and Cross-Coverage Hybrid Nurse Practitioner

About the Role

Are you a Nurse Practitioner who wants the continuity of your own primary care panel along with the variety of clinical cross-coverage? Thundermist Health Center is looking for a Primary Care and Cross-Coverage Hybrid Nurse Practitioner (“Hybrid NP”) to join our primary care practice. Part of your time will be spent providing face-to-face primary care for a panel of patients as a licensed, autonomous NP exercising professional clinical judgment within the health center’s guidelines, policies, and procedures. The remainder of your time is reserved for cross-covering the clinical administrative work of colleagues who are out of the office — reviewing and acting on documents, results, messages, and phone encounters in the electronic health record. What You’ll Do

Primary Care

• Provide complete management of acute and subacute medical care for scheduled patients
• Deliver face-to-face primary care by appointment for an assigned panel of patients
• Review, document, and manage medical records
• Review and coordinate referred services, including laboratory, specialty care, pharmacy, and ancillary services
• Exercise independent professional clinical judgment in accordance with health center guidelines, policies, and procedures

Cross-Coverage

• Cross-cover the clinical administrative tasks of colleagues who are not in the office
• Review and act on documents, results, messages, and phone encounters in the electronic health record

Administrative

• Participate in departmental, team, and full staff meetings
• Help review and develop policies and procedures, health care plans, and clinical goals and objectives

What We’re Looking For

You bring clinical expertise, sound judgment, and genuine compassion to every patient encounter. You’re an autonomous provider who values long-term patient relationships and is equally comfortable managing a full primary care schedule and keeping your colleagues’ clinical inboxes moving.

• Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
• Full, unrestricted Rhode Island license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
• Three or more years of post-graduate medical practice in primary care; experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with proficiency in medical terminology
• A genuine commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care for diverse and underserved populations, with an authentic passion for health equity and community health

Schedule & Location

This is a full-time (40+ hours/week) position based in Thundermist’s Woonsocket primary care practice; part-time status may be considered if agreed upon by administration. The work schedule will involve some evenings and weekends. No after-hours call is required.

• Manual dexterity needed for certain medical procedures
• Full access to confidential information, including patient records, clinical reports and data, personnel records, departmental budgets, and financial reports and statistics; the position requires review and preparation of certain confidential information
