The Medical Unit Receptionist (MUR) in the Emergency Department serves as the primary point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and staff, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for coordinating front-line clerical functions that contribute to efficient department operations and high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities include greeting and assisting patients and visitors, answering and directing telephone calls, maintaining patient charts and electronic medical records, facilitating communication among clinical and support staff, and performing a variety of administrative duties to support the care team. The Medical Unit Receptionist ensures accurate documentation, protects patient confidentiality, and helps maintain an organized, professional, and welcoming environment within the Emergency Department.

Through effective communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills, the MUR plays a vital role in supporting patient flow and enhancing the overall patient and family experience.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: One year experience in healthcare, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, preferred.
• Additional Skills (preferred): Experience with answering multiple phone lines. Basic computer skills. Excellent customer service behaviors.
