Minimum Qualifications:

Required:
The medical toxicologist will serve as medical back-up for the Southeast Texas Poison Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch on an as needed basis. This role provides expert medical toxicology consultation, clinical oversight, and guidance to poison center staff and healthcare providers. Services are primarily delivered remotely and support both the Southeast Texas Poison Center and the Texas Poison Center Network.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Takes call as medical back-up for the Southeast Texas Poison Center and the Texas Poison Center Network. Maintains awareness of active cases being managed by the poison center.
Provides telephone consultation for physicians and bedside healthcare teams.
Provide cases management guidance and oversight to Specialist in Poison Information.
Participation in rounds and daily educational activities as directed by the Medical Director.
Additional duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
Marginal or Periodic Functions:
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This per diem position is for less than 20 hours per week and is not benefit-eligible.
