Overview

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist Molecular Diagnostics position is to perform routine and complex laboratory analyses; assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem solving, teaching and supervision under direction independently. Provides physicians with accurate and reliable analytical results necessary for the diagnosis/treatment of patients.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Service provided is patient centered. Actively contributes to creating a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for UH customers. Communicates clearly to ensure understanding. v Responds to complaints and concerns by resolving issues immediately whenever possible.
  • Organizes work process to accommodate customer needs, including internal customers and co-workers. v Meets or exceeds customer expectations for service.
  • Acts as a role model for Service Excellence. v Maintains professional composure in the work place. Works effectively with team to ensure customer service scores for work area meet/exceed targets. Demonstrates respect for patient rights.
  • Evaluates specimens received by the department and organizes workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround of results. Performs moderate and/or high complex testing. Uses knowledge of quality control to review and evaluate test or instrument performance.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshooting as needed. Evaluates inventory of supplies and reagents and communicate order as needed. Maintains records of test results and archives data. Assists in the total quality management in all aspects of training, testing and quality review. Assists in quality assurance and proficiency testing activities. Ability to demonstrate competence in all laboratory procedures sufficient to perform at a satisfactory level. Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required).
  • ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $41.00.
