Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician (MT/MLT)

Location: Molokai, HI

Available Shifts:

  • Day Shift, Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM and Tuesday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
  • Evening Shift, Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM and Wednesday, 3:00 PM–7:00 PM

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a leading clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory in Hawaii seeking a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician (MT/MLT) to join its team at a hospital laboratory on Molokai. This is a full-time opportunity for a laboratory professional who enjoys a broad generalist role and wants to support high-quality patient testing in a community hospital environment.

The ideal candidate is an MT or MLT with strong general laboratory skills who is comfortable working across multiple testing disciplines. We're looking for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot instrumentation, maintain a high level of accuracy, and flex across laboratory functions based on patient and operational needs. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus, may include relocation assistance, and includes an additional location-based annual incentive.

The Role You'll Play:

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing across assigned areas, which may include hematology, microbiology, molecular, immunology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, toxicology, and flow cytometry.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of patient specimens, including blood, urine, stool, tissue, and body fluids.
  • Perform quality control and review test results to ensure accuracy and validity.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and testing systems.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and report results according to established procedures.
  • Follow laboratory safety, infection control, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with specimen collection, processing, and preparation as needed.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, staff training, and other laboratory quality initiatives.

What You'll Bring:

  • Medical Technologist: Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Technician from an accredited institution.
  • Current certification or licensure appropriate to the MT/MLS/MLT level through a recognized certifying agency.
  • Current Hawaii State license as a Technologist, Technician, or Specialist, as applicable.
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience appropriate to the MT/MLT level.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a laboratory team.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and standard laboratory procedures.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Medical Technologist: $30.00–$42.68/hour
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: $26.00–$37.59/hour
  • Sign-on + Relocation Bonus
  • Additional $10,000 annual location incentive
