Medical Technician

New Hourly Wages starting at $23.06

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Currently enrolled as a Nursing Student
  • Medical Assistant background preferred
  • Direct Care Experience preferred
  • Able to lift 60 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and auto insurance
  • Able to pass criminal background, drug test and physical
  • Consistently implement all aspects of the Individual Plans (ISP/IP), and medical care, while functioning as a Direct Support Professional in various sites.
  • Provide full set of vitals for each resident assigned and chart and report to nursing.
  • Maintains patient stability by checking weights; recording intake and output information, monitoring skin status; reporting any changes in status to Nurse.
  • Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting residents; Reporting observations of the resident to nurse
  • Attend medical appointments and work in conjunction with MAPS and nursing when needed.
  • Accurately records medical, and any other required agency documentation.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining licensure.
  • Enhances nursing department and Sunshine Community reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform special tasks assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing
  • Performs medical tasks and work in conjunction with nursing.
  • Attends all required trainings and professional development meetings as required.
  • Performs other regular duties of a Direct Support Professional as needed.
  • Serves as lead trainer to assigned site as part of that site’s staffing ratio and assists in transition planning when the Medical Technician will be faded as an additional support to the individual and site staff.
  • All other duties as assigned by the DON
