Medical Secretary/Receptionist
1 FTE Contract until March 31, 2027

One of a network of provincial community health centres, NorWest Community Health Centres is one of a network of provincial community health centers. NorWest Community Health Centers is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking 1FTE contract Medical Secretary/Receptionist position to join our Virtual Urgent Care Clinic Team. The Medical Secretary/Receptionist is a valued member of the Community Health Centre team and is responsible for monitoring client flow, handling incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments, and updating the client database. This is position requires providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced work environment. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks, respond efficiently with clients, and work effectively as part of a team.
The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan and an excellent group health benefit package.
The salary range for this position is $41,956 to $50,551 annually. We do not use AI to screen resumes.
Qualifications:
• Three to five year’s office experience preferably in a health setting;
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible, organized, a self-starter, and possess excellent problem solving skills;
• Demonstrated ability to perform well under stress and to deal with multiple demands and unpredictable delays;
• Excellent organizational skills, judgement and tact;
• Good knowledge of medical terminology and high proficiency/accuracy in word processing, dicta typing and data entry skills;
• Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office;
• Secondary school diploma, Medical Secretary certificate or equivalent relevant work experience;
• Demonstrated experience working across all genders with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.
• Valid driver’s license or access to a vehicle.
