Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Scribe role for Radiation Oncology provides direct support to physicians and the Nurse Manager by documenting patient encounters, preparing and maintaining electronic charts, and ensuring accuracy of medical records. Primary responsibilities include transcribing medical data in real time, recording patient histories, physical exams, lab results, and physician assessments, while also assisting with scanning and cataloging paper records into the electronic system. The scribe helps keep clinic workflow efficient by managing chart completion, handling return-to-work or school forms, and facilitating communication among staff, physicians, and patients.

This position requires flexibility to travel between Westwood, Santa Monica, and potentially other sites, while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail in all tasks.


Job Qualifications

  • CPR Certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross – preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential material while protecting its strict confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and track multiple records and requests and follow through in a timely manner
  • Ability to proofread very detailed materials and monitor work accurately
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel to department clinics, as assigned
  • Knowledge and skill in using various computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email and basic database software
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and diplomatically interact with others
