Job Description

  • Purpose:

To engage internal and external stakeholders in the exchange of scientific data in order to:

    • Validate and identify new unmet patient medical needs and transmit appropriate medical information to healthcare professionals.
    • Identify issues and contribute to appropriate activities and solutions within a specific disease area.
    • Enhance academic reputation amongst the medical community as a patient centred organisation.
  • Responsibility:
    • Medical & Scientific support for external stakeholders (60%)
      1. Act as academic partner in the therapy area(s) for external stakeholders
      2. Build and maintain trust-based relationships with KOLs
      3. Share emerging data with Health Care Physicians (HCPs), discussing all aspects of the data in a scientific, objective and balanced way
      4. Respond to unsolicited requests for information about unapproved products or unapproved uses of approved products, presenting such information in an objective, scientifically balanced, substantiated manner that is scientific in tone and content, free of promotional messages, truthful, and not misleading.
      5. Work with HCPs as partners in scientific activities that help advance disease understanding such as:
  1. Identify potential speakers and train speakers as appropriate
  2. Interact in the field with the medical community in the context of various medical projects, such as clinical trials, investigator-sponsored studies (ISS), scientific exchange meetings
  3. Provide recommendations for advisory board participants
      1. Build relationship with key external stakeholders (e.g. government bodies, patient advocacy groups, key medical organisations) by providing scientific support
    • Medical & Scientific Support for internal stakeholders (30%)
  1. Act as scientific expert in the therapy area(s) for internal stakeholders.
  2. Provide the organization with an understanding of the local medical community, clinical practice trends and real or perceived gaps in current scientific knowledge and medical treatment.
  3. Provide the rest of the organisation with an update on partnerships with HCPs, as speakers, or in the context of medical projects.
  4. Identify HCPs with the scientific expertise in local treatment practice to collaborate on forward-thinking medical projects identified in strategic brand planning.
  5. Provide scientific support at sponsored educational events.
  6. Initiate and conduct appropriate staff training & development on information regarding current and emerging clinical data and emerging trends in clinical medicine and practice within Therapeutic Area.
    • Therapy Area Knowledge (10%)
  1. Remain abreast of the latest scientific knowledge and developments in defined domains of expertise, including by means of participation in structured training programmes.
  2. Attend relevant scientific congresses to gather contextualized and competitor information through session attendance and HCP meetings.
    • Compliance with relevant company and industry code of Conduct

Operate within the relevant Internal & External Codes of Conduct, including SOPs. 100% adherence to compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES:

Essential:

    • Advanced degree in clinical medicineor pharmacy
    • English language skills
    • Ability to synthesize scientific information and to communicate it effectively at a peer level with HCPs
    • At least 2 years of work experience as an MSL, work experience in the field of neurology or neuro-rare is preferred
    • Ability to travel (percentage varies with geography)
    • Excellent interpersonal, and teamwork skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner
