Medical Science Liaison - Digital Opinion Leaders (Cardiometabolic)


Field-based — Ontario or Nova Scotia

Join Novo Nordisk Canada as one of three (3) exciting opportunities to be part of the Cardiometabolic Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team and help translate scientific evidence into real-world improvements in patient care across Canada Eastern Ontario.

Your new role


As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Cardiometabolic team, you are a vital scientific resource who establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and academic institutions. You serve as a bridge between the clinical community and Novo Nordisk, providing expert scientific knowledge to support research, product understanding, and clinical care. The role involves disseminating accurate and relevant information while engaging in scientific discussions that enhance the understanding of our portfolio and its impact on patient care.

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals to support scientific exchange and address unmet medical needs. This position is specifically responsible for understanding and tailoring scientific communications to the needs of HCPs who are also Digital Opinion Leaders (DOLs) in the field of cardiometabolic medicine.
  • Communicating complex clinical and scientific information clearly to external stakeholders, providing robust medical education on clinical data and molecule knowledge.
  • Identifying and reporting unmet needs and insights from the field to inform medical strategy and development.
  • Supporting clinical research initiatives, including investigator-initiated studies and clinical trial activities.
  • Representing Novo Nordisk Canada at conferences and scientific meetings to present data and gather insights.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally within Medical Affairs, Access, Clinical, Regulatory and Commercial teams to align on strategic scientific objectives.
  • Acting with scientific integrity and compliance while responding to scientific inquiries

You will join International Operations , our largest operational unit , and be part of the Medical & Regulatory team in Canada. This role offers a collaborative environment where your expertise will help advance medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes.

Your skills & qualifications


To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Hold an advanced scientific or health care terminal degree (PhD, MD, PharmD or Masters in a Science related field plus relevant clinical and/or industry experience.
  • Have 3–5 years’ relevant pharmaceutical industry experience or equivalent professional experience in a scientific or medical discipline.
  • Be based in Ontario or Nova Scotia with the ability to cover Atlantic provinces, remote regions and DOLs and able to cover the territory, with the flexibility to travel frequently across the region (up to 80% travel, including overnight and US/International travel as required).
  • Legally able to reside and work in Canada.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have a valid passport/visa that enables travel to the United States and Europe for scientific meetings.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to interpret and present complex clinical data clearly and confidently to healthcare professionals and academic stakeholders.
  • Have experience supporting clinical research initiatives and engaging with Key Opinion Leaders in cardiometabolic disease, obesity or diabetes ; this experience is highly valued.
  • Bring excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and a service-oriented mindset to build respectful, collaborative relationships with KOLs and healthcare teams.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) would be a strong asset

Salary: For this role, the annual base salary ranges from $116,680 –$166,680. The placement in the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on your skills, competencies, and knowledge, and how your relevant experience matches the position requirements.

Incentives: Based on the role’s level and other factors, the salary package may include short-term (STI) and/or long-term (LTI) incentives.
