
Position Title: Medical Records Coder
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Manager of Health Information Management
Performs ICD-10 and Medicare IRF coding of diagnoses, impairments and procedures following regulatory and coding guidelines/standards for inpatients and outpatients. Performs medical record review, data collection and data input for billing and reimbursement, research use, statistical reporting and audits.
Wage Range: $23.66/hour to $35.50/hour.
The actual wage is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience and qualifications for this position. The wage range for this position may be subject to change in the future depending on a variety of factors such as market conditions, business needs, legal developments, and other appropriate factors.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate Degree in Health Information Management related field.
Certification/Licensure: One or more of the following:
AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
AHIMA Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Skills/Experience:
Recent one (1) to two (2) years medical record work experience doing filing, chart assembly and analysis or related activities, and use of an electronic medical record.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
Formal education in ICD-10-CM coding of diagnoses and CPT coding of procedures.
Data input and data abstraction work experience.
Demonstrates proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Experience:
Familiarity with Medicare IRF requirements.
EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, WORK AIDS USED
Office supplies and equipment, including telephone, computer and multifunction devices (MFDs). Google’s G Suite, report writer and database software. Files, medical records, book references, automated systems for electronic medical record.
