Sangre de Cristo Community Care is looking for a Full Time Medical Records Clerk to join our dynamic team in our Pueblo office. The Medical Records Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining accurate, organized, and secure patient records. This position ensures timely filing, scanning, and retrieval of clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, maintain, and update patient medical records.
  • Scan and upload clinical documentation into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Track and ensure timely receipt of physician-signed orders and other documentation.
  • Monitor charts for completeness and accuracy; follow up on outstanding or missing documents.
  • Process record requests from providers, staff, and regulatory agencies in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Assist with audits and survey preparation by compiling and verifying required documentation.
  • Communicate with clinical teams to ensure timely and compliant recordkeeping.
  • Perform clerical duties including data entry, faxing, copying, and filing.
  • Answer incoming calls in the main phone queue, route calls to appropriate staff, and provide professional and courteous communication.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in medical records in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare documentation practices.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., MatrixCare) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
