Reporting to the Manager (Medical Billing and Practice Support), the Medical Receptionist (part-time opportunity) will provide excellent customer service to Consultants and patients utilising our Sessional Consulting Suites. Greeting patients and their families, you will have excellent knowledge of billing, general reception duties and have professional presentation. Proficient in IT systems, you will be a customer focused person who genuinely enjoys helping people and will be able to compliment clinical care and be a member of our Epworth HealthCare team.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading by example with excellent customer service, time management and an aptitude for a variety of systems and software.
  • Building strong relationships with our consultants and patients and demonstrating the Epworth values
  • Providing support to a team of staff and Manager through the adoption of a can-do attitude and role-up-your-sleeves approach.

To be successful in this role…

You will be a quick learner; quick to think on your feet when faced with problems, and a multi-tasker, used to dealing with numerous tasks at any one time. Additionally, you will value teamwork, showing mutual respect and actively contribute to a collaborative environment.

You will have:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a similar role (essential)
  • Medicare and Health Fund rulings & billing interpretations (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills both in person, written and on the telephone
  • An empathetic, friendly and professional manner
  • A sense of ownership and accountability regarding the work you undertake
  • Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders from a variety of diverse backgrounds
  • Sound working knowledge of Genie & iPM (desirable)

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
