At our renowned Cancer Care Westside in Taringa, Brisbane, we are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Medical Receptionist to join our passionate team in a permanent part-time position, working 0.8 FTE (30 hours per week), Tuesday to Friday.

This role will support our team in delivering high-quality cancer care services to the local community. As part of a patient-centred organisation, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our centre while providing a welcoming and supportive experience for our patients.

What’s Involved:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Medical Receptionist who takes pride in delivering excellent patient service and working collaboratively with doctors, nurses and the wider clinical team. Experience in radiation oncology or medical oncology would be highly regarded.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Patient liaison: Welcoming patients, answering calls, managing correspondence and scheduling appointments.
  • Patient administration: Managing patient records, accurate data entry and billing within our e-management system (Mosaiq).
  • Liaising with hospitals, specialists, allied health professionals and other key stakeholders.
  • Supporting doctors and nurses and assisting with the smooth coordination of patient care.
  • Providing a professional, compassionate and welcoming experience for patients and their families.
  • Contributing to the efficient day-to-day administration and operation of the centre.

Who You Are:

  • An experienced Medical Receptionist with a genuine passion for patient care.
  • Empathetic, compassionate and professional in your approach.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Confident communicating with patients, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, day hospital or specialist medical practice is desirable.

What You Bring:

  • Previous experience in a medical practice, hospital or specialist healthcare environment.
  • Experience in oncology or radiation oncology is highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with Medicare, DVA and Private Health Insurance.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence using multiple software systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with patients and key stakeholders.
