EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.

As a Medical Physicist with focus on beam delivery and new projects, you play an important role in treatment for our patients and have the unique opportunity to work directly on a particle accelerator With your in-depth knowledge of beam delivery, you will support in the development and implementation of new technologies. This allows you to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Medical Physicist - Beam Delivery (f/m/x)

A job where you can make a difference:

Context:

    • MedAustron owns a synchrotron delivering protons and carbon ions clinically.
    • An expansion project has just started, aiming for a new compact proton only therapy system
    • Main focus:
      • Development and implementation of new technologies for a state of art proton therapy system in a multidisciplinary team.
      • Proactively driving tasks across departments in close interaction with other experts in the field
      • Focus will be the comprehensive design and implementation of an integrative (Quality Assurance) QA framework
      • Support the MedAustron Expansion project as a whole
    • Routine duties:
      • Supporting dosimetry and QA activities related to the current beam delivery and patient treatments
      • Participating in shift work activities with a focus on QA
      • Act as a bridge between the current and the new therapy systems

Skills that make you our strength:

  • Academic studies (Masters degree or PhD) in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or similar
  • Experience in Medical Physics with focus on dosimetry, ion beam therapy and quality assurance
  • Experience with QA automation, cutting edge, data-driven QA workflows, or software-supported QA tools
  • Experience with various vendors of particle accelerators, dosimetry and in-room equipment
  • Hands on experience with acceptance/commissioning of complex medical devices
  • A Medical Physics certification is advantageous, but not essential
  • Very good English skills and at least basic German knowledge
  • Self-driven project work, with initiative to define and deliver tasks autonomously
  • Hands-on mentality, flexibility and team spirit
  • Good presentation and communication skills in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment
  • Willingness to work in shifts

For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum annual gross salary for this position is € 67,644.42. Remuneration is based on a salary scale that takes into account professional experience and qualifications.
